Overview of our recent 2011 event...

The National Careers & Employment Expo (NCEE) returned to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on 13th and 14th May.

In partnership with The Courier Mail and CareerOne, this years event was a showcase of employment, skills, education and training opportunities across Brisbane and Queensland.

The largest national FREE EVENT in Brisbane invited visitors both young and old to come along and get careers advice, discuss study options with leading Universities, TAFE and private education providers, source information on industries of interest and speak directly with employers such as the; Queensland State Government & Government Agencies, Defence Force Recruitment, Goodstart Childcare, Energex, Qantas, Flight Centre, Ozcare, RACQ, Rail Careers and JBS Australia about employment opportunities within their organisations.

The 2011 Seminar Program was the best ever with 2 separate Seminar Theatres featuring presentations from a wide range of education providers, government agencies, employers and industry bodies.

National Career Development Week was once again on hand promoting career development and the need for everyone to develop skills to manage their careers, learning, work and lives.

2011 marked the beginning of a significant initiative, a new skills-focused vocational education and training section at the event called Skillex.

This unique event section consisted of a live ‘Try A Trade’ component and Skillex showcased industries in the state facing current and future skill shortages.

Skillex had a clear focus on skilled areas and vocational education and training including both traditional and non traditional trades as well as healthcare, IT, retail, hospitality, hair and beauty, and business services. The area was a popular platform to promote apprenticeships, traineeships, cadetships, jobs and education and training in these areas.

Brisbane Metro and SEQ year 11 & 12 students continued to be very well represented in their thousands and in attendance on Friday.
