Overview of our recent 2011 event...

The National Careers and Employment Expo (NCEE) returned to the Wayville Showgrounds (Adelaide Event and Exhibition Centre) on May 20 and 21 .

The largest national FREE EVENT in Adelaide also included for the first time the 'Skillex' careers expo which is the new skills-focused vocational education and training event in Australia.

The expo invited visitors both young and old to come along and get careers advice, discuss study options with leading Universities, TAFE and private education providers, source information on industries of interest and speak directly with employers such as SA Health, Defence Force Recruitment, South Australian Police, Group Training South Australia, Qantas, Flight Centre, BAE Systems, Rail Careers and ASC, Raytheon & Defence Materiel Organisation about employment opportunities within their organisations.

The 2011 Seminar Program was the best ever with 2 separate Seminar Theatre's featuring presentations from a wide range of education providers, government agencies, employers and industry bodies.

National Career Development Week was once again at the NCEE, promoting career development and the need for everyone to develop skills to manage their careers, learning, work and lives.

2011 marked the beginning of a significant initiative within this event with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Careers expo being conducted as a part of the expo which offered and opportunity for young indigenous job seeks an opportunity to discuss career options with some of Australia’s largest employers to gain information about their specific indigenous programs.

One of the feature events of the expo was the World Skills, Try'a Trade section which offered an 800qsm interactive area where visitors could gain a hands on experience at activities such as tiling, floristry, motor mechanics, veterinary science, aircraft engineering and much more.

Key sections of the expo were again trades and defence, while the mining section was very well represented with companies such as Rio Tinto, Redpath Mining and Oz Minerals being joined by training companies offering pathways to mining employment. The Health sector was well represented by SA Health and joined this year by many aged care and home care facilities such as Southern Cross Care and Eldercare.

Adelaide Metro and Regional SA year 10, 11 & 12 students continued to be very well represented in their thousands and in attendance on Friday with an excellent cross section of the public attending Saturday.
